What are urodynamic Tests?
A urodynamic test is any procedure that examines how well a part of the lower urinary tract , the bladder, sphincter, and urethra ,functions in the storage and voiding of urine.

There are several types of urodynamic studies. Your doctor may recommend one or more tests depending on your symptoms, but they are often performed together as a single comprehensive test. These studies include:

  • Uroflowmetry
  • Post-void residual measurement.
  • Cystometry
  • Leak point pressure measurement.
  • Pressure-flow Tests.
  • Electromyography
  • Video urodynamic tests.

When are urodynamic Tests performed?
Urodynamic testing is often performed to determine whether there are problems in the lower urinary tract. It may be recommended for patients experiencing it.

  • Urine leakage.
  • Frequent urination.
  • Pain during urination.
  • A sudden, strong urge to urinate.
  • Difficulty starting urination.
  • Difficulty completely emptying the bladder.
  • Recurrent urinary tract infections.

How to prepare for a urodynamic test?
Before the procedure:

  • Inform your doctor of any existing health conditions.

Most urodynamic tests do not require special preparations, but your doctor may ask you to:

  • Adjust your fluid intake.
  • Stop taking certain medications.
  • To drink a large amount of water to ensure your bladder is full.
