When Does Dehydration Occur?

Dehydration occurs when your body does not have enough water and fluids, or loses a large amount of fluids.

What Are the Symptoms of Dehydration?

  • Feeling thirsty
  • Dark yellow urine
  • Changes in urine odor
  • Reduced frequency of urination
  • Feeling dizzy or tired
  • Dry skin
  • Dry mouth
  • Painful muscle cramps

How Do You Deal with Dehydration?

  • Help the affected person sit and rest
  • Give the person water and assist them in drinking it, or provide over-the-counter oral rehydration solution
  • Monitor the person's condition. If their condition does not improve or they appear very tired, call emergency services
