When doesunconsciousness occur?

Unconsciousness or fainting occurs due to a sudden decrease in blood flow to the brain, usually lasting a short period.

  • Causes of unconsciousness:
  • Low blood pressure.
  • Low blood glucose level.
  • Standing up quickly.
  • Malnutrition.
  • Dehydration.
  • Anemia.

Heart problems.

  • What are the symptoms of unconsciousness?
  • Dizziness.
  • Blurred and unclear vision.
  • Nausea.
  • Pale face.
  • Sweating.
  • Cool, clammy skin.

Changes in breathing.

How do you deal with unconsciousness?

  • If you feel like you are about to faint:
  • Lie on your back and raise your legs.

If you’re sitting, place your head between your knees.

  • If you see someone who is unconscious:
  • Have the unconscious person lie on their back and elevate their legs.
  • Ensure they arebreathing and havea normal pulse.
  • If fainting is due to heat exposure and heatstroke, remove excess clothing and cool the person quickly with cold water or an ice bath, if possible, by wetting their body or placing a cold, moist cloth on them.

 

If the person does not regain consciousness within a minute (60 seconds), call an ambulance.
